Abuse of Parliamentary immunity to spread lies will be corrected – Deputy AG

Deputy Attorney General Justice Srem-Sai has strongly criticized Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin for allegedly misusing parliamentary immunity to spread falsehoods regarding the National Security raid on former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison’s residence.

Afenyo-Markin had accused security operatives of misconduct, including theft, during the operation. However, Srem-Sai refuted these claims, stating that the search was conducted legally with court approval and that Dr. Addison had legal representation throughout the process.

He warned that parliamentary privileges, meant to ensure good-faith debates, should not be exploited for misinformation, adding that necessary corrections would be made to prevent such abuses from undermining public trust and democratic integrity.
