Effutu MP Alexander Afenyo-Markin has forecasted challenges for many National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament as the party moves to implement its promise of a lean government.
Speaking on JoyNews, he noted that with the NDC's overwhelming majority of over 170 MPs, only about 35 to 40 may secure ministerial roles under the proposed 60-member cabinet.
This leaves approximately 140 MPs without significant legislative roles, which he predicts could lead to redundancy and internal tensions.
Afenyo-Markin cautioned that resource constraints might further strain relationships between MPs and their constituencies, potentially causing disengagement similar to what the previous administration experienced.
He emphasized that fulfilling the NDC’s lean government pledge could pose practical challenges in managing parliamentary cohesion.
