Afenyo-Markin questions funding for Mahama's anti-corruption committee

Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has raised concerns over the funding of President-elect John Mahama's newly established anti-corruption committee.

The five-member panel, chaired by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, aims to investigate corruption cases within the outgoing Nana Akufo-Addo government for prosecution.

Speaking on Joy FM, Afenyo-Markin questioned whether the committee’s work would be financed privately or publicly, citing transparency as a critical issue. He argued that private funding could compromise the committee's integrity, while public funding requires scrutiny of resource allocation.

Afenyo-Markin stressed the need for accountability in the committee’s operations, adding that the NPP plans to monitor its activities closely.

The committee's creation is part of Mahama’s pledge to address corruption and safeguard state resources.
