Supporters and branch executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Abura Asebu Kwamankese are unhappy. They want the party's national leadership to intervene. They claim tensions are rising due to their MP, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
At a press conference, spokesperson Solomon Yaw Bentsil spoke for the group. They accused the MP, who is also Minister of Communication, of arrogance and insubordination. They believe he is causing division within the constituency.
The group appealed to President John Dramani Mahama and national executives. They urged them to address the MP's behavior before it harms the party’s chances in 2028.
They stated that Felix Kwakye Ofosu has undermined Constituency Chairman Vincent Koomson’s authority. This has created tension and disunity among party members. The group wants him to stop playing a "blame game" and collaborate with Koomson.
Bentsil said they are seeing unprecedented levels of arrogance from Ofosu. His actions are alienating loyal members and weakening their grassroots support. The executives also accused him of sidelining known party loyalists for unfamiliar individuals in key roles.
They alleged that he sold National Security slots meant for NDC members to unknown people. This denies opportunities to committed supporters of the party. Bentsil warned that if NDC performs poorly in 2028, Ofosu should take full responsibility.
He added that Ofosu must reverse these appointments or risk further alienation from the constituency. Several supporters echoed these frustrations when speaking with journalist Samuel Nana Tawiah. They claimed that Ofosu has distanced himself from those who helped him win in 2024.
One supporter said, “Felix Kwakye Ofosu’s arrogance threatens NDC’s success here.” They urged him to change his ways before it’s too late.
The group concluded by calling on national leadership to restore unity and discipline within the constituency. They emphasized that internal peace is crucial for maintaining electoral strength in the region.
