Akim Swedru MP Opposes Free Electricity For Government Agencies

Kennedy Osei Nyarko, the MP for Akim Swedru, opposes recent directives. These directives exempt some government offices from paying electricity bills.

In a Facebook post, he stated, “I vehemently oppose four (4) of the directives from the Minister.” He only supports the directive for the Ministry of Health.

Nyarko questioned why the Office of the President and other MDAs receive free electricity. He noted they have large budgets for goods and services this year.

He asked, “Why are they asking for free electricity?” Nyarko urged the Finance Minister to cut these budgets during the mid-year review.

“MDAs must be responsible for the utilities they consume,” he asserted.
