Former Deputy Attorney-General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah has clarified that the Council of State, in consultation with former President Nana Akufo-Addo, decided against granting presidential pardons to specific individuals.

Despite reports, the 11 prisoners pardoned by Akufo-Addo on January 6, just before leaving office, were selected after a thorough review considering health, imprisonment length, and mitigating factors.

Speaking on JoyNews’ *Newsfile* on January 11, Tuah-Yeboah explained that a letter sent by the President to the Council of State on January 2 was leaked, leading to public misconceptions.

The letter was part of the consultation process, and the decision not to pardon certain individuals was finalized after deliberations.

He emphasized that the individuals speculated to be pardoned remain in custody, dispelling recent rumors.
