Former Gender Minister Adwoa Safo has alleged that ex-President Nana Akufo-Addo distanced himself from an audit of the school feeding programme after she uncovered financial irregularities.
Speaking on Wontumi TV, she claimed Akufo-Addo initially instructed her to review the programme’s finances before funds were disbursed.
However, after presenting her findings to the Cabinet, he allegedly backtracked due to internal pressures.
Safo said officials linked to the irregularities, particularly in the Central Region, refused accountability, citing high-level connections.
She accused members of the previous NPP administration of shielding the corruption, warning that the sector remains plagued by mismanagement.
Her revelations have renewed calls for transparency in the school feeding programme, which has long faced allegations of financial abuse.
