Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has raised alarm over massive financial commitments made by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) under the Akufo-Addo administration, revealing that contracts worth over GH¢195 billion were awarded.
Speaking on Channel One TV a day after presenting the 2025 Budget, he explained that due to the scale of these obligations, he had to suspend payments for further scrutiny.
He disclosed that GH¢18.2 billion in outstanding certificates had already been submitted to the Finance Ministry for processing, while an additional GH¢49.5 billion remained unprocessed at the Controller and Accountant General’s office.
Dr. Forson’s revelation highlights serious fiscal concerns, raising questions about the previous government’s financial management and its impact on economic stability.
