Akyem Tafo Zongo youth demand arrest of National Security Operative ‘Double’ over shooting incident

The youth of Akyem Tafo Zongo in the Eastern Region’s Abuakwa North constituency are demanding the arrest of national security operative Bright Ernest Akomea, alias “Double,” over a shooting incident that injured two Zongo youth on December 8.

Eyewitnesses claim the incident occurred when National Security operatives, allegedly led by “Double,” confronted youth attempting to stop a taxi suspected of transporting thumb-printed ballots to the Electoral Commission office.

The situation escalated, leading to gunfire that left one victim in critical condition and another treated and discharged.

At a joint press conference with the NDC Abuakwa North constituency, convener Sulemana Awudu called on the Inspector General of Police to arrest “Double” and his team, citing his alleged involvement in prior violence, including the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

The youth vowed to seek justice and hinted at plans for a demonstration to demand accountability.
