Amewu released after National Security arrest over Sky Train scandal

Former Minister for Railways Development, John Peter Amewu, has been released following his arrest by National Security operatives on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

Amewu was reportedly detained for questioning over the failed $2 million Sky Train Project.

Sources reported that his arrest was part of ongoing investigations into the controversial deal.

The project, which was expected to improve Ghana’s urban transport system, failed to materialize despite financial commitments.

Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, confirmed at a press briefing on Monday, March 24, that $2 million was allocated but yielded no results.

Dr. Ayine further disclosed that prosecutions related to the Sky Train case would commence by mid-April 2025. He assured the public that suspects are cooperating with investigators and that steps are being taken to recover misappropriated public funds.
