Deputy Ranking Member on the Education Committee, Dr. Clement Apaak, has urged the government to pay its GH¢118 million debt to the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to avoid further harm.

The arrears have delayed the release of the 2024 WASSCE results, affecting students’ futures and tertiary institutions' schedules.

WAEC has called for immediate payment to repair equipment needed for processing results. Dr. Apaak criticized the government’s delay as unacceptable, warning of severe implications.

He emphasized that the delay undermines students’ efforts and disrupts academic timelines.

The lawmaker called on the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led government to fulfill its obligations, stressing the need to prioritize education funding to prevent similar issues in the future.
