Apologize to Ghanaians and appoint more than 60 ministers – Afenyo -Minority Leader to Mahama

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has called on President John Mahama to apologize to Ghanaians for underestimating governance challenges and consider appointing more than 60 ministers to improve national administration.

Speaking in Parliament, Afenyo-Markin argued that the president’s decision to merge ministries has placed undue pressure on appointees, compromising efficiency and risking corruption.

He noted that Mahama’s 2024 campaign pledge to cap ministers at 60, aimed at cutting costs and enhancing accountability, has instead strained key ministries like Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, which oversee peacebuilding and governance.

Afenyo-Markin urged Mahama to admit his miscalculation and rethink his approach, warning that the workload could spiral out of control. He stressed the need for bold leadership to address pressing national issues effectively.
