The Minority in Parliament has questioned Energy Minister nominee John Jinapor’s shifting stance on private sector involvement in the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
They raised concerns that his recent endorsement of private sector roles in metering and collections could pave the way for unregulated intermediaries, commonly referred to as “goro boys.”
This marks a sharp contrast to his earlier position on September 18, 2024, when he criticized private sector participation as harmful to ECG.
The Minority urged the public to reflect on the potential implications of Jinapor’s responses, emphasizing the need for transparency, accountability, and citizen-focused reforms in the energy sector.
