Asset Declaration: No excuse justifies missing deadline – Shamima Muslim

Deputy Government Spokesperson Shamima Muslim discussed the asset declaration deadline.

She noted that some appointees missed it due to being out of the country. Others may have forgotten because of heavy workloads.

However, she emphasized that these reasons do not excuse their failure to comply.

"They didn’t do well, and now they face consequences," she said.

Some appointees claimed they were outside the jurisdiction before the deadline. She pointed out that if they had to travel, they should have planned better.

Many became deeply involved in their work and forgot about the deadline. A few missed it due to overwhelming responsibilities.

Shamima mentioned that sanctions are now looming for those who failed to declare assets. Appointees must take this matter seriously and act quickly.

"There is no excuse really," she stated. "I hope losing three months' salary will motivate them in the future."

Prof. Agyeman-Duah suggested that asset declaration defaulters should have been dismissed.
