Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin apologized for the government's attempt to amend Road Traffic Regulations, which would have allowed MPs and state officials to use sirens and ignore speed limits.
The proposal faced strong public opposition, leading to its withdrawal.
Bagbin assured Ghanaians that Parliament is responsive to their needs and announced new procedures for legislative review.
The subsidiary legislative committee now has a mandate to ensure proposed laws align with the constitution and to detect any issues before formal introduction in Parliament.
