Bagbin plans Parliamentary prayer meeting to restore order among MPs

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, plans to hold the next annual prayer meeting in the chamber to address what he sees as a spiritual influence causing disorder among MPs. His concerns follow recent chaos at the Appointments Committee.

Speaking at a breakfast prayer meeting, he noted a contrast between MPs' respectful conduct in private and their disruptive behaviour in Parliament.

Bagbin questioned why disorder erupts when his deputies preside, citing a recent incident where MPs started singing and shouting immediately after he stepped aside.

He stressed the importance of impartiality in the Speaker’s role and suggested divine intervention is needed to restore order.

His remarks highlight the urgency of addressing disruptions and maintaining discipline in Parliament.
