Bagbin refers Mahama’s first ministerial nominees to Appointments Committee

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has referred three ministerial nominees appointed by President John Dramani Mahama to the Appointments Committee for vetting and approval.

The nominees include Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister-Designate for Finance, John Jinapor as Minister-Designate for Energy, and Dominic Ayine as Attorney General and Minister-Designate for Justice.

Bagbin announced the referrals during a parliamentary session on January 9, 2025, stating, "I will accordingly refer the nominees to the Appointments Committee for consideration and report to the house."

Meanwhile, Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh urged the nominees to prepare thoroughly, cautioning, "It is not going to be business as usual."

The nominees are expected to face rigorous vetting as they seek parliamentary approval.
