Bawumia’s role as Veep is to advise, not make decisions – Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu

Former Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has defended NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia against criticism over his policy promises.

Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu clarified that as Vice President, Bawumia only advises President Akufo-Addo and has no power to enforce policy changes.

He highlighted that past presidents introduced new policies upon re-election, emphasizing that Dr. Bawumia’s current promises, including abolishing the electronic levy and betting tax, reflect the NPP’s 2024 manifesto rather than his executive authority.
