Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged African policymakers to adopt a forward-thinking approach and embrace technology to drive economic transformation.
Speaking at Harvard University’s 27th Annual Conference on Beyond Borders: A Myth or a Mandate for Africa’s Progress?, Dr. Bawumia stressed the need for digitalization, stating that Africa can leapfrog advanced nations in various sectors with the right mindset.
Highlighting Ghana’s transition from an informal economy to a data-driven system, he emphasized the role of digitalization in shaping the country’s future.
“We must use technology to solve today’s problems while laying the foundation for future jobs,” he said.
Dr. Bawumia’s call reinforces the importance of tech-driven policies in Africa’s quest for economic transformation and global competitiveness.
