Kwadwo Poku, a member of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, has assured that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer will investigate the alleged distribution of expired rice to senior high schools if elected.
Poku emphasized that the issue should not be politicized, as it involves technocrats, not politicians. He urged the CID to probe the matter and hold those culpable accountable for any criminality.
The FDA fined Lamens Ventures GH¢100,000 for re-bagging rice without approval, though tests confirmed the rice was safe.
Meanwhile, North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa criticized the government for endangering students' health and called for national screening.
Dr. Bawumia’s team has pledged to ensure accountability while maintaining public trust in food safety standards.
