Ben Abdallah confirmed as MCE for Asokore Mampong

President John Dramani Mahama nominated Ben Abdallah Alhassan as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokore Mampong. Assembly Members overwhelmingly endorsed him. He received 17 'Yes' votes and one 'No' vote from 18 ballots cast.

The vote occurred during an emergency meeting. This meeting also addressed the long-standing vacancy for Presiding Member. That position had been unfilled for over a year and faced a contentious election earlier that day.

Mr. Alhassan's nomination received mixed reactions within the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Some party members opposed his appointment, while others supported him. They cited his competence and leadership qualities.

He currently serves as the NDC’s Director of Research and Elections in Asawase Constituency. His confirmation brings significant responsibilities, including addressing sanitation issues, infrastructure deficits, and indiscipline in the municipality.

Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, the Member of Parliament for Asawase, urged Mr. Alhassan to collaborate with Assembly Members. He emphasized the need to focus on community development above all else. He assured full support to help ensure progress.

In response, Ben Abdallah Alhassan thanked President Mahama for his confidence in him. He pledged to work closely with all stakeholders to advance development in Asokore Mampong Municipality. "I will act and work in the role of an MCE," he stated.
