The Ashanti NPP Caucus in Parliament has warned that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) will be held responsible for any security breaches during Monday’s Council of State election re-run.

The caucus had requested a venue change to the Regional Police Headquarters, citing security concerns after thugs disrupted the first election at the Regional Coordinating Council.

Tafo MP Vincent Ekow Assafuah insists that relocating the election would ensure better security.

The group has also cautioned against attempts to alter the electoral roll, alleging that some Coordinating Directors have been instructed to swear in appointed assembly members to influence the vote.

Assafuah has called for a free and fair election without interference or unauthorized individuals.
