Boako challenges Kwakye Ofosu over NPP’s financial buffers

Dr. Gideon Boako has refuted claims by Felix Kwakye Ofosu that the previous government left no financial buffers for debt servicing.

Boako insists that recent payments to bondholders were possible due to reserves accumulated from auction surpluses and unspent revenue, urging the government to publish the sinking fund’s balance for transparency.

Kwakye Ofosu, however, argues that the numbers don’t support the NPP’s claim, questioning where the supposed buffers were lodged.

He maintains that if funds were indeed left behind, they should be reflected in official statements.

The debate highlights the ongoing political tussle over Ghana’s fiscal management, with both sides defending their narratives on economic stewardship.
