Residents in the Bole Bamboi Municipality have rejected President John Mahama's nominee for Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Abdulai Mahmud.
The Arise Youth, a local pressure group, voiced their concerns at a press conference on Friday. They claim that about 95% of residents do not know Mahmud, who is from Bamboi.
The group accused Mahmud of not participating in party activities. They believe this makes him unsuitable for the MCE role.
Saaka Abdul Fatawu Jaga, Secretary of the Arise Youth, expressed disappointment in the President's choice. He called for reconsideration of the nomination.
Abdulai Mahmud was nominated on Wednesday and arrived in Bole on Thursday. However, his nomination faced resistance just one day later.
