Charles Bawaduah, the MP for Bongo, has dismissed claims about Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo's removal proceedings. He responded to former Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame's assertions. Dame argued that the process lacked due process and violated constitutional provisions.
In an interview with Bernard Avle on The Point of View, Bawaduah stated the process is lawful. "I’m surprised that he was surprised," he said. "There’s no flaw anywhere; it’s a very legal process." He emphasized that there is no flaw in the ongoing proceedings.
Bawaduah stressed the need to view this case legally, not politically. "We have to look at this case based on law," he explained. He noted it is a constitutional issue dependent on facts and legal processes.
He criticized Torkornoo’s legal team for not meeting the standards for an injunction. They failed to provide sufficient grounds in their affidavit, he said. "If the court refused it, I’m not surprised," he added.
Bawaduah's comments follow a setback for Justice Torkornoo. On May 28, the Supreme Court dismissed her application for an injunction unanimously. This ruling allows a five-member presidential committee to continue its investigation into her removal petitions.
