Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, a key member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), spoke candidly about the party's loss in the 2024 elections. He is proud of the NPP’s record and has no regrets.
During the party’s Thank You Tour, he addressed supporters passionately. He reflected on the ‘Break the 8’ agenda, which aimed for a third consecutive term. “Why were you saying ‘Break the 8’? You knew it has never happened before,” he stated.
Despite the election results, Dr. Abdul-Hamid expressed no bitterness or blame. “Walaahi, I am not upset. I don’t think anyone is responsible,” he said.
He assured supporters that the NPP is not defeated. “He who fights and runs away lives to fight another day,” he noted. “We fought, and we are here, fighting again.”
Known for his straightforwardness, he distinguished himself from some party colleagues. “The general secretary and others are nice guys, but I am not very nice,” he remarked.
He emphasized that he feels no remorse for anything done by him or the party.
Dr. Abdul-Hamid highlighted NPP's achievements during their time in government. He claimed that President John Mahama cannot match their performance.
“We did our best for this country,” he asserted confidently. “Nothing John Mahama will do can compare to what we have done.”
He criticized early signs of instability under the current administration as well. “Look at what is going on in governance,” he said. “They appoint a chief executive one day and replace them the next.”
