Bright Simons, Honorary Vice President of IMANI-Africa, has criticized the criminal case against Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, now Governor of the Bank of Ghana, as unfounded.
Speaking on JoyNews, he argued that Dr. Asiama was merely implementing agreed-upon policies. The Attorney-General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has withdrawn charges against him, which stemmed from the collapse of UniBank and UT Bank.
However, the NPP claims the move is politically motivated to clear NDC-linked figures.
The opposition also questions Dr. Asiama’s appointment, citing past allegations.
Dr. Ayine has dropped six other high-profile cases, including the Saglemi Housing trial involving ex-Minister Collins Dauda, fueling further political debate.
