Bryan Acheampong forms exploratory committee ahead of NPP Flagbearer bid

Dr. Bryan Acheampong, former Minister for Food and Agriculture, has made an announcement. He is the current Member of Parliament for Abetifi. He has formed an exploratory committee to consider a presidential bid within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

On Thursday, May 29, Dr. Acheampong released a statement about this decision. He mentioned receiving encouragement from many party members and consulting with family and friends. The committee will talk to grassroots members and key stakeholders across Ghana.

Their goal is to see if his vision matches the party's aspirations and those of Ghanaians. The committee will report its findings in four weeks.

Dr. Acheampong emphasized his commitment to unity within the party. He also highlighted important issues like job creation, food security, youth development, safety, and good governance.

He described his journey in the NPP as “lifelong and deeply personal.” His roles include being a grassroots organizer, party staffer, four-term MP, Cabinet Minister, and long-time financier. These experiences have given him insights into what it takes to build the party.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to the NPP and expressed confidence in overcoming challenges. Dr. Acheampong believes the party can lead Ghana toward a brighter future.

He encouraged all NPP supporters to remain steadfast in their efforts for progress and inclusivity. "May God be our helper," he concluded.

Dr. Acheampong is among several senior figures in the NPP considering future leadership roles as they prepare for internal elections and the 2028 general elections.
