Build trusted relationships with those above you to grow politically-Gbande to NDC rank and file

Mr. Mustapha Gbande, Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, shared an important message. He addressed party appointees and youth, urging responsible use of their power.

In his statement titled “Making Good Use of the Power We Hold,” he emphasized that political victory brings responsibility. It requires humility, discipline, and vision. “This is not merely a victory—it is a responsibility,” he said.

Mr. Gbande reminded colleagues that leadership is a privilege from the people. It should not be taken for granted. He outlined eight lessons from his experience to help appointees navigate their roles.

He advised members to be “document-ready.” Keeping personal identification and credentials updated is crucial for unexpected opportunities. “A well-prepared CV should be part of your daily arsenal,” he stressed.

On job-seeking, he encouraged youth to take initiative. Party support often goes to those who show self-drive and commitment. “Don’t just forward your CV; send it directly where opportunities exist,” he advised.

Mr. Gbande highlighted the importance of humility, discipline, and emotional intelligence in life. “Let your presence reflect wisdom, intelligence, and dependability,” he said. First impressions matter—make yours count.

He warned against entitlement and emotional outbursts on social media. Digital platforms should be used strategically. “Avoid broadcasting your frustrations,” he cautioned.

Reflecting on his journey, Mr. Gbande spoke about mentorship and personal growth. He urged appointees to build meaningful relationships and earn goodwill before aspiring to lead.

He concluded with a reminder: “Power is fleeting.” Politics isn’t destiny; life isn’t fair either. However, wisdom and hard work can tip the balance in your favor.
