CDS meets Generals to announce exits in line with military regulations

On Monday, April 28, 2025, Major General William Agyapong met with all Two-Star Generals of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) at Burma Camp.

The purpose of the meeting was to acknowledge their service. It also aimed to inform them about upcoming changes in the command structure.

Major General Agyapong thanked the Generals for their professionalism. He conveyed appreciation from the President and Commander-in-Chief for their contributions.

He mentioned that many Generals would be released from active service. This decision aligns with GAF regulations for improved command and control.

Major General Irvine Aryeetey spoke on behalf of the Generals. He noted that leadership transitions are common in the GAF.

He referenced past changes where outgoing and incoming CDS came from different intakes. He stated that this shift follows that same pattern.

General Aryeetey expressed gratitude to the CDS for inviting them to discuss these changes. He called it a thoughtful gesture to recognize their service.

The meeting concluded with a luncheon at the CDS’s office. Service Chiefs and the Chief of Staff at General Headquarters were also present.
