Former Forestry Commission CEO Henry Kwabena Kokofu has urged calm among New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters following their defeat in the December 7 general elections.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s flagbearer, garnered just over 4 million votes, losing to John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who secured over 6 million votes.
Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Kokofu acknowledged the frustrations of NPP members, some of whom blame President Nana Akufo-Addo, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, and Gabby Otchere-Darko for the loss.
However, he emphasized the need to focus on rebuilding the party rather than engaging in blame games.
“Change is inevitable,” he said, urging the party to conduct a constructive post-election review to regain the trust of Ghanaians. He also condemned post-election violence by some NDC supporters, stressing that Ghana’s sovereignty lies in the hands of its citizens.
