Tensions flared at the Greater Accra Council of State election on Tuesday, February 11, after aspirant Musah Ziyad was blocked by police while attempting to enter the polling room with others.
The commotion led to Regional Minister Linda Ocloo fleeing the venue through an exit door.
Order was later restored, allowing voting to continue.
Out of 13 candidates, three—including Ziyad—have withdrawn, leaving 10 in the race.
The election, supervised by the Electoral Commission, involves 58 delegates selecting a regional representative.
This incident follows similar chaos in the Ashanti Region, where thugs disrupted voting.
The Council of State serves as an advisory body to the President under Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.
