Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has affirmed the strict confidentiality surrounding the petitions seeking the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

Speaking on Face to Face on Channel One TV, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu explained that President John Mahama has intentionally kept the contents of the petitions confidential, in full compliance with constitutional provisions.

“The President has kept it close to his chest. There is a high level of confidentiality,” he stated, adding that only the President and possibly his legal advisors are aware of the details.

Kwakye Ofosu further confirmed that the Chief Justice responded to the petition within the legally stipulated seven-day window, and that consultations between the President and the Council of State are currently ongoing.

He emphasized that any action taken will be based solely on legal grounds.
“If—and it’s a big if—it is found that there is a basis to proceed, the President will abide,” he affirmed.

The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to following due process, stressing that while the public may be eager for information, transparency will be upheld only within the limits allowed by law.
