Child Rights International has urged the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) to share details about the welfare of arrested street beggars.
This request comes after GIS apprehended over 2,241 foreign nationals involved in street begging. The operation took place across 11 locations in Accra.
At a press briefing, Bright Appiah, Executive Director of Child Rights International, made the appeal. He asked GIS to reveal their actions and safety measures for those detained.
Appiah expressed concern about the lack of established protocols for these individuals. He questioned whether the state has engaged with the countries where these children originate.
Understanding this information is crucial for assessing the state's response and international discussions.
