The collation of parliamentary results for Ablekuma North has been suspended after suspected NDC-linked individuals ransacked the Electoral Commission’s Greater Accra office on Friday, January 17, 2025.
Eyewitnesses reported that over 40 individuals disrupted proceedings, ordering everyone out and vandalizing property, including doors and louvre blades, as media personnel and officials awaited the start of the process.
The motive remains unclear, sparking concerns about the security and credibility of the electoral process.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement, and no arrests have been confirmed.
This marks another setback in a process already delayed by disputes, including the resignation of Returning Officer Vincent Obeng on January 8, 2025, over disagreements regarding pink sheet authentication.
Four of the remaining seven polling stations had been finalized prior to the disruptions.
