A five-member committee will investigate three petitions against the Chief Justice.
President John Dramani Mahama established this committee. It will begin hearings on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
Supreme Court Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang chairs the committee. This formation follows the President's finding of a prima facie case against the Chief Justice.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of Government Communications, issued a statement. He announced that the committee will meet three times a week.
The committee's job is to examine the petitions thoroughly. They will present their findings and recommendations to the President after completing their work.
The details of the petitions are not public yet. However, they have attracted national attention for their implications on judicial accountability and transparency.
The President’s decision to start this inquiry shows his commitment to upholding the rule of law. This commitment extends even to the highest levels of the Judiciary.
