Complementary infrastructure challenges slowing down housing delivery – SHCL MD

John S. Bawah, Managing Director of State Housing Company Limited (SHCL), discussed project delays. He noted that issues with roads, drainage, and water systems are major obstacles.

Mr. Bawah spoke during a meeting on May 5, 2025. This meeting included a monitoring team from the Parliamentary Select Committee on Works and Housing. The team toured ongoing housing projects in Pokuase, Amrahia, and Adenta.

Vincent Oppong Asamoah, MP for Dormaa West, led the committee. They expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of work at the sites. The committee pledged support to help SHCL complete the projects affordably.

Bawah emphasized that critical infrastructure must be addressed before project completion. He urged the government to expedite these works. He suggested allowing SHCL to build these amenities and include costs in home prices.

However, he warned this could raise home prices. Such an increase might conflict with their goal of affordable housing. The committee acknowledged his concerns and promised to improve inter-agency coordination for faster infrastructure deployment.

SHCL remains dedicated to providing affordable, quality housing across Ghana. They continue to seek stronger partnerships to meet the country's growing housing needs.
