Twum Barima is the Deputy Director General of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC). He reassured Ghanaians about handling intercepted narcotics. He emphasized that integrity is a priority under current leadership.
In an interview on TV3's Key Points, he stated there will be no mishandling of seized substances. "These are men of integrity," he said. He added that there will be no stories of missing evidence like in the past.
Barima explained NACOC’s procedures for storing seized narcotics. The substances are kept safely until legal processes are finished. “We usually burn them,” he noted, referring to disposal after court proceedings.
He further explained, “You keep them until the matter comes to a close.” If asked to produce them as evidence, they must be available. NACOC has exhibit rooms specifically for this purpose.
