Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has alleged that some Customs officers played a role in the disappearance of ECG-bound cable containers at the port.
Speaking in Parliament on Friday, March 28, he claimed officials conspired to divert the containers, which were later resold to ECG despite payments already made to suppliers.
He urged lawmakers to address the issue beyond partisan lines, emphasizing the need to curb corruption within the system.
Meanwhile, Energy Minister John Jinapor has announced a budget cut for ECG from GH₵500 million to GH₵250 million, citing excessive spending and a debt burden of over GH₵80 billion in the energy sector.
He stressed the urgency of financial discipline to prevent further crisis.
