South Dayi MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor has filed a defamation suit. He is suing Assin South MP Reverend John Ntim Fordjour. The lawsuit is over a social media post that accused him of bribery.
Dafeamekpor filed the suit at the High Court in Accra. The post on X (formerly Twitter) claimed he received GHC 360,000 for passing a Legislative Instrument. It also alleged that his committee misappropriated GHC 49 million. Dafeamekpor strongly denies these claims.
He calls the allegations false, malicious, and damaging. Dafeamekpor says they have harmed his reputation and caused emotional distress. He argues that these claims disrupted his professional life.
Dafeamekpor seeks a court declaration that the statements are defamatory. He wants a retraction, an apology, and various damages—general, aggravated, punitive, and compensatory.
He also requests an injunction to prevent Ntim Fordjour from making further defamatory statements against him. Ntim Fordjour has not yet responded to the lawsuit or indicated if he will challenge it in court.
