Defence Minister slams NPP lawyer over Wontumi bail handling

Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, criticized NPP lawyer Gary Nimako Marfo. He accused Marfo of poor leadership and a weak legal strategy. This was in relation to securing bail for Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi.

In a Facebook post on June 2, Dr. Boamah questioned Marfo's competence. He described Marfo's approach as chaotic and ineffective. The Minister suggested that the NPP's internal leadership is disorganized even while in opposition.

Dr. Boamah stated, “This chaotic display of leadership reflects a deeper crisis within the NPP.” He expected a more coordinated legal effort from someone like Gary Nimako Marfo.

Chairman Wontumi has been granted bail by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). He is currently under investigation. The NPP legal team previously failed to secure his release on bail, causing chaos in the party's leadership.
