Develop a comprehensive strategy to combat illegal mining- Presby Moderator to gov't

At the 7th congregation ceremony of Presbyterian University College's Abetifi campus, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye spoke about illegal mining. He called on the government to create a strategy to combat "galamsey." This strategy should also protect the nation's water bodies.

Dr. Kwakye stressed the need for coordinated efforts against environmental degradation caused by illegal mining. He encouraged graduates to use their skills in this fight. He suggested forming a specialized police unit to enforce anti-illegal mining laws.

Prof. John Ofosu-Anim, Vice-Chancellor of the university, discussed accommodation challenges for students and staff. He urged NGOs, individuals, and the government to help improve living conditions on campus. Prof. Ofosu-Anim highlighted that better accommodation is vital for academic success.

The ceremony emphasized the university's commitment to national issues like environmental protection and education infrastructure. It reflects the institution's role in promoting societal development.
