After days of public debate, the Ghana Gold Board's Acting CEO, Sammy Gyamfi, gave an $800 cash gift to evangelist Patricia Asiedua, known as Nana Agradaa. The Office of the President has now responded.
On Tuesday, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State for Government Communications, spoke to the media. He said President John Dramani Mahama is aware of the situation and has accepted Mr. Gyamfi's official apology.
“President Mahama acknowledges the public’s concern and takes this matter seriously,” Mr. Kwakye Ofosu stated. He noted that while Mr. Gyamfi’s actions were inappropriate, the President has accepted his apology and issued a warning.
The President is committed to high standards of ethics in public office. “All appointees must conduct themselves with integrity,” he added.
This statement addresses some criticism surrounding the cash gift from a public official to a controversial religious figure. While it may ease tensions now, it serves as a reminder for government officials about maintaining public trust and transparency in their actions.
