Chairman Butey, also known as Dankwa Smith Butey, criticized National Executives. He blamed them for blaming Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the party's failure in the 2024 elections.
Butey argued that if they couldn't control the former president, they shouldn't blame him. He said their silence during critical moments contributed to the party's humiliating defeat.
He believes the national executives are responsible for not breaking the eight-year cycle. They were ineffective and incompetent in their roles, he stated.
“They claim Akufo-Addo made us lose,” he said. “But what did you tell him when his actions hurt us?”
Butey urged party leadership to take responsibility. They should not leave everything to Akufo-Addo, whom they now blame for losing.
“We brought the party to power,” he emphasized. “If we couldn’t guide our leader, what kind of leaders are we?”
He advised NPP members to vote against any National Executive seeking re-election. He shared these thoughts during an interview with Sompa FM in Accra.
