Don’t fail your constituents – Bagbin to new MPs

Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has called on newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) to prioritize the needs of their constituents and uphold their trust.

Speaking at an orientation for first-time MPs, he stressed the importance of their roles in shaping the future of the people they represent.

Bagbin reminded lawmakers of the sacrifices their constituents have made to support their political journeys and urged them not to take their responsibilities lightly.

“You are a role model. The lives of so many people depend on you. Don’t fail them. People are defending you with their lives, even in the villages. It is not fair to toy with their future,” he stated.

He emphasized that MPs must act with integrity and dedication, as their actions ultimately benefit their own legacies and moral accountability.
