E-Levy was needless – Dr. Gideon Boako defends Bawumia’s opposition

Dr. Gideon Boako, Member of Parliament for Tano North, has reaffirmed his opposition to the Electronic Transaction Levy (E-Levy), calling it unnecessary.

Speaking on Asempa FM, he explained that while taxation is essential, better alternatives could have been explored.

He revealed that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia also opposed the levy, which is why he pledged to abolish it if elected president.

Dr. Boako defended Bawumia’s stance, arguing that skepticism arose because the NPP was still in power when the promise was made.

He also reminded President Mahama of his own commitment to scrap the E-Levy, urging a more comprehensive approach to revenue generation once the levy is removed.
