E/R: NPP chairman hauled before Akroso Traditional Council over alleged disrespect

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is facing an internal controversy. This involves Mr. Samson Effah, the Constituency Chairman for Asene Manso Akroso (AMA). He has been summoned by the Akroso Traditional Council. The summons is due to alleged disparaging comments he made about a respected figure.

The Council, led by Nana Kwabena Ofori II, expressed strong displeasure. They were upset over a WhatsApp status allegedly posted by Mr. Effah. This message reportedly contained derogatory remarks aimed at Nana Afia Ohenewaa. She is the Adontehemaa of the Akroso Traditional Area and a former NPP executive.

The Traditional Council found the post deeply offensive. They described it as immature and unwarranted. They stated it attacked the dignity of Nana Afia Ohenewaa and her family. It also disrespected the traditional authority as a whole.

The Council demanded an unqualified apology from Mr. Effah. They emphasized that such behavior undermines customs and social cohesion in Akroso.

During a tense meeting on Sunday, Mr. Effah denied the allegations. He requested concrete evidence to support these claims. His defiance nearly angered the chiefs present at the meeting.

However, his home chief intervened to calm tensions. The home chief offered an apology on behalf of Mr. Effah, acknowledging the seriousness of the situation.

The Traditional Council accepted this apology but issued a stern warning to Mr. Effah. They urged him to conduct himself with respect in the future.

They cautioned that any further disrespect would not be tolerated and would lead to swift action.

Meanwhile, some NPP members in the constituency expressed disappointment over Mr. Effah's actions. They described his behavior as part of a troubling pattern within the party.
