ECOWAS has deployed over 100 observers to monitor Ghana’s December 7 general elections.
The observer team includes 16 long-term observers, already in Ghana, and 90 short-term observers arriving in early December.
ECOWAS has also provided a $210,000 grant to four Ghanaian institutions and civil society organizations to promote peaceful, credible elections.
The grant supports the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), National Peace Council (NPC), Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), and Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA).
These funds will enhance voter education, peace efforts, and combat misinformation. ECOWAS is committed to ensuring a transparent and peaceful election, reinforcing Ghana’s position as a model for democracy in the region.
