Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has emphasized the need for a $1.5 billion investment to address Ghana’s education sector challenges over the next few years.
Speaking during a tour of four education agencies in Accra, he highlighted the urgent need to bridge infrastructure gaps, particularly in the wake of the Free SHS policy, which has increased student populations in public universities.
He proposed decoupling GETFund and increasing its share of GDP investment to ensure sustainable funding.
Additionally, he reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening STEM education, pledging to expand the Accra STEM Academy model to regional capitals, starting with Upper East, Upper West, Oti, and Western North.
The initiative aims to enhance technical education and workforce readiness.
