Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, the Director of Legal Affairs for the NDC, has criticized the Ghana Bar Association (GBA). He responded to their recent stance on a directive from Acting Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie. This directive concerns how cases and court dates are assigned.
The GBA has asked the Acting Chief Justice to withdraw this directive. They cited concerns about its clarity and potential effects on justice delivery. In a statement dated April 26, they called the directive “uncertain” and warned it could disrupt judicial processes.
In an interview on Citi Eyewitness News on April 29, Tamakloe addressed the GBA’s concerns. He argued that questioning the Chief Justice's authority was unnecessary. He expressed disappointment with the GBA’s public stance.
Tamakloe said, “If the Bar had kept quiet, it would have been better.” He also questioned the motives behind their statement. He suggested that the GBA might be engaging in selective criticism.
“What exactly is the Bar talking about? Is it a case of double standards?” he asked.
